“This is me, this is what I should be doing!”
Patricia Kamende from Kenya is full of excitement when she talks about the filming training she is currently following in the context of the Link and Learn process.
Patricia is part of a young film team representing the Coalition On Violence Against Women (COVAW). Through distance training, the team is learning how to interview, how to tell a story, and how to use the materials at hand (a cell phone) to capture their story of change, focussing on the strengths that they discover around them.
The Visual Journey is one of the ways through which Voice grantees are Linking and Learning. During the filming and storytelling, the group members learn from their experience. To share it with other Voice projects, they make a short movie: a communication tool that is easily accessible and inspirational.
Ten Voice multi-country grantees in Africa and Asia will follow a similar process in the months to come.
Visual Journey is a collaboration between The Constellation and Visual Development. It is inspired by the Behind the Mask series: during the first months of Covid-19, the partners invited individuals and communities to film their story of strengths discovered during difficult times.
