SUMMARY:Go Girl Ghana - SALT-CLCP training
DESCRIPTION:Go Girl Ghana has been using The Constellation SALT-CLCP methodology since 2018 to enhance ownership by girls and their surrounding communities of issues of concern to them\, especially teenage pregnancy and access to education. In 2018 a coaching team of The Constellation trained a core group in Awutu-Senys West district.  \nNow\, Go Girl Ghana has started their activities in a new area\, namely: Gomoa East district. One person\, Comfort Nukpeta\, has already been trained online in the approach during 2021 and together with Leonie Heppener she joined exchanges with facilitators from four other countries where the Go Girl focus was adopted. In 2023 Go Girl Ghana wishes to have a larger facilitation team able to accompany community conversations and actions through SALT and CLCP.  \nFor this purpose\, The Constellation will organise a four day training\, facilitated by a team of a coach (Onesmus) and a facilitator (Quintonne) from Kenya. Comfort and Leonie will join the facilitation team as well. The trainees will consist of community leaders\, community members and teenage girls.

SUMMARY:Shifting Knowledge Power: Pathways towards more equity in learning processes
DESCRIPTION:The international solidarity sector is gradually taking a more proactive approach to local communities by supporting local civil societies. Addressing this burning issue involves localizing aid for strengthening systems and organizations\, as well as questioning partnerships and governance in organizations. \nBut is this sufficient ? \nThe way in which organizations design\, monitor\, and evaluate actions is not neutral and should be also questioned. More specifically\, the methods used in our sector reveal unequal patterns of knowledge production and use that maintain inequality and injustice since they don’t acknowledge all types of knowledge. As a result\, Indigenous communities and other knowledge holders from the global South\, such as women and youth\, are de facto excluded from learning practices. \nHow can affected people be really empowered through recognizing their situated knowledge? How can International solidarity organizations facilitate this process by revisiting their methodologies and learning processes? DESCRIPTION:The Constellation in partnership with the Kenyan Team\nPresents:\nVirtual Global Learning Festival 2021\n  \nTheme\nANCHORING THE ENERGY FOR SUSTAINABLE LOCAL RESPONSE\nHow communities learn and adapt to old and new challenges\n\n  \nThis year’s theme is locally set\, and globally explored.  \nThrough virtual SALT visits to local communities in Kenya\, and from the shared experiences of participants in many other places in the world – we will listen to how they have learned from actions in the past and how they have adapted to old and new challenges. The lessons from those experiences will provide us with answers to what the anchors are for sustainable local response.  \nWe had started exploring the theme of ‘sustainable local response’ during the Global Learning Festival in Bandung\, Indonesia\, in 2018 and decided that the same theme would be explored in depth and from various perspectives in following Festivals. Meble Birengo picked up the flame in Bandung 2018 and is bringing us this year to the experience of the Kenyan Team. \nAn interactive programme\nFriday 1 October: Karibuni Nyote\, Jambo nyote\, Salamu kutoka Kenya\, tunawapenda ‘Landing’ in Kenya – Getting to know each other – deepening  understanding on SALT through shared learning\, content formulation\, Global reconnection\, celebration and diversity integration. \nSaturday 2 October: Virtual SALT visits to diverse communities in Kenya who have been responding locally to diverse issues including economic and livelihood development\, sustainable women initiated responses\, adapting and living with disabilities. \nSunday 3 October: Market Place: Local SALT teams from across the world will present their best practices and lessons learned. All participants go shopping\, with their own wisdom as currency. Finding common threads for future partnerships \nMonday 4 October: Weaving Pearls of Wisdom: What have we learned together? How can we use that in our own community and how can we share the lessons with others? A festive closing.  \nVirtual\nThe world has changed\, The Constellation is adapting. More than before we are carrying out our mission to Stimulate and Connect Local Response around the world with virtual means. This also means that our usual highlight of the year\, the Global Learning Festival\, where we bring SALT-CLCP facilitators and community members together\, is shifting to a virtual event. This year therefore a V- is appearing before the usual acronym GLF. We introduce the V-GLF 2021.  \n\nWe mirror the real time Global Learning Festival – online\n\nEven online\, we want to make it a refreshing experience\, where people feel listened to and realise the importance of their local action.  \nFor who?\nThe V-GLF is an event where different groups\, teams and members of The Constellation come together\, for learning and mutual inspiration. The event is rooted in SALT-CLCP – and is linked to The Constellation ways of working. Those who are engaged in local response and community action in their own country\, come together\, virtually.  Those who are wanting to learn about SALT-CLCP and community action are welcome as well. DESCRIPTION:Covid-19 measures are preventing the team of Faith Foundation in Shillong\, India\, to do what they like most: interacting with communities so that they can make progress on issues such as teenage pregnancy\, child marriage and access to education.  \nBut the team has not been resting! Team members took the opportunity to make progress in becoming SALT facilitators. DESCRIPTION:GO GIRL!\nWe invite you to a virtual SALT visit to Go Girl Ghana\nIn 2015 Leonie Heppener brought a SALT visit to Kenya. She came in contact with the SALT-CLCP work in the village Kithutuni\, where people with HIV/AIDS were the focus. This visit touched her so much that that’s where she decided that this approach would work well for the empowerment of girls in Ghana too. Go Girl Ghana was founded in 2017 and had its first SALT training in 2018. Jeanet\, Emmanuel and Leonie from Go Girl Ghana will share with you the story of girls and how they work with them and their families to advocate for social change in equality and education.
