SUMMARY:Virtual Global Learning Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Constellation in partnership with the Kenyan Team\nPresents:\nVirtual Global Learning Festival 2021\n  \nTheme\nANCHORING THE ENERGY FOR SUSTAINABLE LOCAL RESPONSE\nHow communities learn and adapt to old and new challenges\n\n  \nThis year’s theme is locally set\, and globally explored.  \nThrough virtual SALT visits to local communities in Kenya\, and from the shared experiences of participants in many other places in the world – we will listen to how they have learned from actions in the past and how they have adapted to old and new challenges. The lessons from those experiences will provide us with answers to what the anchors are for sustainable local response.  \nWe had started exploring the theme of ‘sustainable local response’ during the Global Learning Festival in Bandung\, Indonesia\, in 2018 and decided that the same theme would be explored in depth and from various perspectives in following Festivals. Meble Birengo picked up the flame in Bandung 2018 and is bringing us this year to the experience of the Kenyan Team. \nAn interactive programme\nFriday 1 October: Karibuni Nyote\, Jambo nyote\, Salamu kutoka Kenya\, tunawapenda ‘Landing’ in Kenya – Getting to know each other – deepening  understanding on SALT through shared learning\, content formulation\, Global reconnection\, celebration and diversity integration. \nSaturday 2 October: Virtual SALT visits to diverse communities in Kenya who have been responding locally to diverse issues including economic and livelihood development\, sustainable women initiated responses\, adapting and living with disabilities. \nSunday 3 October: Market Place: Local SALT teams from across the world will present their best practices and lessons learned. All participants go shopping\, with their own wisdom as currency. Finding common threads for future partnerships \nMonday 4 October: Weaving Pearls of Wisdom: What have we learned together? How can we use that in our own community and how can we share the lessons with others? A festive closing.  \nVirtual\nThe world has changed\, The Constellation is adapting. More than before we are carrying out our mission to Stimulate and Connect Local Response around the world with virtual means. This also means that our usual highlight of the year\, the Global Learning Festival\, where we bring SALT-CLCP facilitators and community members together\, is shifting to a virtual event. This year therefore a V- is appearing before the usual acronym GLF. We introduce the V-GLF 2021.  \n\nWe mirror the real time Global Learning Festival – online\n\nEven online\, we want to make it a refreshing experience\, where people feel listened to and realise the importance of their local action.  \nFor who?\nThe V-GLF is an event where different groups\, teams and members of The Constellation come together\, for learning and mutual inspiration. The event is rooted in SALT-CLCP – and is linked to The Constellation ways of working. Those who are engaged in local response and community action in their own country\, come together\, virtually.  Those who are wanting to learn about SALT-CLCP and community action are welcome as well. You can register as an individual\, or with your team of 3. Partner organisations are invited to send their teams as well. Teams will be asked to present their experience at the Marketplace on Sunday. \nCosts\nParticipation Fee includes full participation in facilitated interactive events from 1-4 October; access to documentation during and after the event and a unique V-GLF 2021 Participant Package will come your way.  \n\nIndividual participants: 50 Euro\nLocal SALT teams (3 persons): 100 Euro\nOrganisations (3 person teams): 250 Euro\n\nWe want the Virtual Global Learning Festival to be an inclusive learning opportunity for all. Therefore\, we count on solidarity. Be in touch if you cannot afford the full registration fee\, or if you can support the participation of other individuals or teams.  \nRegistration\nLast minute registration possible until 30 August 2021 \n\nIndividual participants: https://forms.gle/r7joEVsMCJ7RAX9o9\nLocal SALT teams (3 persons):  https://forms.gle/2e1SL9LLAxRPsfpw9\nOrganisations (3 person teams): https://forms.gle/3qFc17TBY2FKVtCg9\n\n  \n \n

SUMMARY:Virtual SALT visit - Shillong
DESCRIPTION:Covid-19 measures are preventing the team of Faith Foundation in Shillong\, India\, to do what they like most: interacting with communities so that they can make progress on issues such as teenage pregnancy\, child marriage and access to education.  \nBut the team has not been resting! Team members took the opportunity to make progress in becoming SALT facilitators. They decided to apply the Community Life Competence Process to themselves: they established the dream for their work and have started making progress for example on research skills.  \nCome and join us for a virtual visit to the Shillong team – and hear more about their dream! \nThe Virtual SALT visit is part of the GO GIRL! project of The Constellation and five local SALT teams/organisations. \nOld or new SALT-CLCP facilitators who are working with youth on issues related to gender equality\, sexual health and teenage pregnancy (or who are planning to do so!) are all invited.  \nSupport\, Appreciate\, Listen\, Learn and Transfer will be our mindset during the visit. \nWe hope you will be part of the conversation that will take place on zoom.  \nPlease confirm your attendance with Marlou: marlou@the-constellation.org \n

SUMMARY:Virtual SALT visit: Go Girl Ghana
DESCRIPTION:GO GIRL!\nWe invite you to a virtual SALT visit to Go Girl Ghana\nIn 2015 Leonie Heppener brought a SALT visit to Kenya. She came in contact with the SALT-CLCP work in the village Kithutuni\, where people with HIV/AIDS were the focus. This visit touched her so much that that’s where she decided that this approach would work well for the empowerment of girls in Ghana too. Go Girl Ghana was founded in 2017 and had its first SALT training in 2018. Jeanet\, Emmanuel and Leonie from Go Girl Ghana will share with you the story of girls and how they work with them and their families to advocate for social change in equality and education. How they have applied SALT and how they work with communities today. \nThe Virtual SALT visit is part of the GO GIRL! project of The Constellation. \nOld or new SALT-CLCP facilitators who are working with youth on issues related to gender equality\, sexual health and teenage pregnancy (or who are planning to do so!) are all invited. \n\nSupport\, Appreciate\, Listen\, Learn and Transfer will be our mindset during the visit. \n\nWe hope you will be part of the conversation that will take place on zoom. Please confirm your attendance with Marlou: marlou@the-constellation.org

SUMMARY:'Who's in Town': AUC features The Constellation with One of Us
DESCRIPTION:“Why are local responses to global issues important?”\nScreening of ‘One of Us’\n  \nThe Who’s in Town event series of the Amsterdam University College invited The Constellation to an online film screening and discussion. \nThe Constellation will be screening their latest film ‘One of Us’\, a 35-minute documentary focused on a community’s response to HIV/AIDS in Northern Thailand. When Khun Tiw finds out she has HIV/AIDS\, her world falls apart. The doctor helps her to overcome self-stigma when he encourages her to speak out\, sparking a community response to the disease. In the end\, it takes a community to heal a person. In this event\, we will screen this inspiring story followed by a panel discussion with key speakers discussing important questions. \nSpeakers\nLuc Barriere-Constantin is a medical doctor by training with an MPH in Epidemiology and International Public Health from the Johns Hopkins School of Public Health. He was a UNAIDS staff member until 2014. As one of the co-founders and Chairperson of The Constellation\, Luc’s main focus is the development of partnerships and projects/programmes for the dissemination of the SALT-CLCP methodology. \nMariJo Vazquez has been living with HIV for over 25 years. Since her diagnosis\, MariJo has dedicated her time to working as a counsellor and peer group facilitator to share her lived experience on HIV\, gender\, women’s rights and community mobilisation.

SUMMARY:Online Learning Festival: Connections in the Neighborhood
DESCRIPTION:During the difficult 2020\, we\, 8 local residents of IJburg and Zeeburgereiland in Amsterdam\, did what seemed equally impossible: We rediscovered and strengthened our own talents\, formed a close-knit team of friends\, learned from the experience of others and are at the cradle of various connecting initiatives in the neighbourhood.\nWe followed this year’s training for connecting in the neighbourhood according to the SALT-CLCP methodology of The Constellation\, thanks to the assignment of the City of Amsterdam. \nOn Saturday 21 November we will celebrate what we have learned\, together with people who are important to us. We will do this during an online learning festival. We will share our ‘gems’ . We also want to talk to you about the themes that are important to us: Being together\, doing things together\, creating together. The online festival will be musically enlivened by Oed-player Alsharaa. \n
